Newton teachers on NewTV
Beverly Droz, host of the "Green Decade Environment Show" on NewTV, welcomes as her guests two Newton North High School biology teachers, Ann Dannenberg and Zachary Snow. These dedicated teachers talk of the different programs they have devised to bring environmental issues to the attention of their students and describe how the students are encouraged to draw their own conclusions through research and field observations. The students select the subject for study and, in Zach Snow´s class, they make a presentation of their findings to the class at completion. The data collected is made available to city departments, advocacy groups, and interested citizens. Ann and Zach are also providing the impetus for recycling at Newton North and they discuss the ups and downs of this program, which has now achieved a high rate of implementation over a period of years. "The Environment Show" runs through Jan. 26 on NewTV Blue Channel (see Environment Calendar for stations and viewing times. Ann and Zach can be reached at the Newton North Science Department (617) 559-6380 or via email at ann_dannenberg@newton.mec.edu or Zachary_Snow@newton.mec.edu. |
