Open to all Newton Students in Grades K-5 Artwork Entries Due: Monday, March 15 Awards Program: April 8, 2010 (tentative) War Memorial Auditorium at City Hall
This year's Environmental Art Contest expands the scope beyond the energyconservation focus of previous contests to the environment in generaland how students are helping their schools and Newton "go green."
Open to all students K-5 who live or attend school in Newton -- they may enter in teams of 4-6 students and can win first prize for their school! Students in grades 3-5 have two options, as a team member or as an individual. In addition, all contest participants will receive a certificate and be entered automatically in a raffle for a basket of eco-friendly art supplies valued at $50. Contest details are on our website and students may register on-line to participate in this year's contest.
Newton North students are playing key roles in coordinating this year's contest: Antonia DiMambro (2010) is the Art Contest Coordinator and Madeleine Aquilina (2012) is our Operations Coordinator. Newton North graduate Amanda Frank Webber is coordinating sponsors to fund the prizes again this year. Our new Mayor, Setti Warren, will present awards to the winners and certificates to all participants at this year's awards ceremony. We hope to have all of the contest artwork displayed at Newton City Hall in the rotunda, as in 2008 and 2009, much to the delight of City Hall visitors and staff!
