3. JANUARY ENVIRONMENTAL SHOW: Healthy Household Cleaning Products for Your Home
|
Throughout the month of January Host : Beverly Droz, Green Decade Guest: Leise Jones, Clean Water Action This month, host Beverly Droz welcomes back Leise Jones of Clean Water Action to discuss household cleaning products. Surprisingly, no government regulatory agency is charged with monitoring these chemicals, nor are manufacturers required to list their ingredients. Recent scientific studies have revealed health problems associated with
their use, especially for children and asthma sufferers, and traces of their component chemicals are found in house dust. Clean Water Action and the Alliance for a Healthy Tomorrow are introducing legislation to curb the use of some of these toxic chemicals. Ms. Jones will also give information about widely available safe cleaning products , which are also price-competitive with their conventional counterparts.
More information
about the January program is available at greendecade.org/environmentTV. The Environment Show is broadcast on the NewTV Blue channel (Comcast Chan. 10, RCN Chan. 15): Mondays 3:00 p.m. Tuesdays 1:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. Wednesdays 11:30 a.m. Thursdays: 12:00, 4:00 and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays: 10:00 a.m.

5. "AN
INCONVENIENT TRUTH" Showing & Discussion
|
Saturday, Feb. 3, 1 pm Newton Free Library, Druker Library FREE
Even if you´ve already seen Al Gore´s film — and especially if you haven´t — join us for this showing! GDC Energy Chair Prof. Eric Olson (Brandeis University) will lead the discussion afterwards. In Eric's view, shared by many, Gore's film does a good job describing the science and the politics surrounding this issue, but is less effective at describing solutions. Eric will briefly describe ways of tackling global warming that can form a basis for your individual and political next-step actions, and he will encourage audience
commentary on both the film and possible solutions.
