Candidates for Board of Directors

Members will vote on the slate of candidates offered by the Board of Directors to serve on the board until June 2012. Nominations will also be taken from the floor; however, only seven can become directors this year.

Ana Zarina Asuaje Solon – Energy Committee, Small Business Outreach
President, 2006-2008, Board member since 2005. Coordinated Small Business Energy Initiative programs with businesses in Newton Highlands and West Newton, in cooperation with NSTAR's energy retrofits program. Chaired the 2006 "Greening the Garden City" 15th anniversary fundraiser. Also coordinated environmental program for elementary children at Mason Rice School. Also works with School Outreach, Energy, Public Affairs and ad hoc committees.

Ann Berwick – At Large Board member since 2005
Undersecretary of Energy for the State of Massachusetts, Ann has been active in environmental issues for many years, including the Environmental Protection Division (MA Attorney General’s Office), Mass Toxics Use Reduction Advisory Board, and Clean Air Committee of the Boston Bar Association.

Marcia Cooper – President
Membership Committee Chair, Board member since 2005; Green Decade member since its founding. Also serves as Newsletter Collator Co-Chair for the Green News and volunteer at Newton Farmers Market.

Ed Cunningham
GD/N Board Member 2005-8 and Vice President 2007-8, returning after a 1 year hiatus in NH. Former GD/N representative to the City�s Integrated Pest Management Advisory Team. Former member of GreenCAP and the Fundraising Committee. Past contributor to the TAB Environmental Page. Planning to become involved in two areas of longtime interest: the Energy Committee and the High Performance Building Coalition. Has completed Sustainable Design certificate at the Boston Architectural College, and is currently preparing for the LEED Accredited Professional and HERS (Home Energy Rating System) exams.

Ellie Goldberg - At Large
On the Green Decade Board as Co-Chair of the Committee for Alternatives to Pesticides (GreenCAP) since mid 1990s, then on the advisory board for the past few years. Now on the board again as Environmental Health Advocate. Also serves as legislative chair for Massachusetts PTA, on the governing council fo the Alliance for a Healthy Tomorrow, on the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Interdisciplinary Health and Human Services Advisory Council, and on other environmental and educational policy groups; Is an advocate and consultant for students with asthma and other environmentally triggered health conditions, www.healthy-kids.info

Dan Ruben – At Large
President 2004-2006; former Household EcoTeam Program Chair, GD/N Board member since 1996. Executive Director, Boston Green Tourism. Dan has coached more than 25 Household Ecoteams; also a board member of the Massachusetts Energy Consumers Alliance.

Robert Warren – Co-Chair School Outreach
Green Decade Board member since 2007, Green Decade member since 2007. Newton public school parent; board member of Cabot After School Program. Immigration lawyer and longtime activist in many social justice issues. Member of Congregation Dorshei Tzedek in West Newton.
